All fees are in Australian dollars. The AACB membership year is 1 July - 30 June.

For members who are enrolled full time in a Bachelor of Science (or equivalent) at an approved University. Must provide a letter for proof of current full time enrolment from your institution. Eligible for automatic upgrade to Associate membership following completion of degree.
Retired Members 0 0 0 Must have been a financial member for more than 5 years as an Affiliate, Associate, MAACB, FAACB or Life Fellow and has ceased temporary of permanent employment. See reduce rate information and declaration below.

Reduced Rates for Annual Subscriptions

Section 11(d) of the AACB by-laws provides for Council to approve a reduced fee provided that the applicant has:

  • income of less than 60% of the salary of a first year Hospital Scientist employed under the Hospital Scientists (Public Hospital Scientists') State Award of NSW OR
  • is residing overseas for at least one year OR
  • has ceased either temporary or permanent employment OR
  • not ordinarily resident in Australia or New Zealand OR
  • is entirely ceased to be engaged in either temporary or permanent employment, and has been a financial member for more than 5 years.
    • members of five years or more standing who have permanently RETIRED or who intend to retire within twelve months from active employment may apply to become retired members

Overseas members will automatically attract a reduced rate, which will be applied to the subscription renewal.

Australasian members who are still working and earning less than $41,300 per annum will pay 60% of the full fee appropriate to their category of membership.

Optional Subscriptions

AACB members may be eligible for a reduced rate to subscribe to certain international journals. If eligible these options will be available when you renew your membership.

Annals of Clinical Biochemistry

The 2027 subscription cost is AU$265.00 (this represents a discount of $270* which is only available to AACB members). Please note: renewals MUST be made before 30 August 2026 as the first issue will be dispatched from the UK in January 2027. Similarly, new subscribers need to complete payment by the end of October 2026 for the January - December 2027 editions as this is when we submit the list to the UK.

Current subscribers are advised to include the reference number (listed on the address label with each journal mail-out) with any communication.

Clinica Chimica Acta Online Subscription

The AACB (as a member of the IFCC) has been offered a special online subscription rate to the highly regarded Clinica Chimica Acta. For AU$88.00 members will be provided with a 12 month online subscription (a significant saving compared to AU$720 for an individual print 12 month subscription!). Please note: renewals MUST be made before 30 August 2026 and the subscription will become active upon members receiving confirmation from the publisher in September/October.

Clinical Chemistry and Laboratory Medicine (CCLM) Online Subscription

The AACB has a special online subscription rate to Clinical Chemistry and Laboratory Medicine (CCLM). For AU$86.00 members will be provided with a 12 month online subscription (compared to US$ 374.00 for an individual online 12 month subscription). Please note: renewals MUST be made before 30 August 2026 and the subscription will become active upon members receiving confirmation from the publisher in September/October.
