The Australasian Association for Clinical Biochemistry and Laboratory Medicine (AACB) is seeking expressions of interest from suitably qualified applicants for this important role with the Organisation.

About the AACB

The Australasian Association for Clinical Biochemistry and Laboratory Medicine (AACB) is the leading professional body for clinical biochemistry and laboratory medicine in Australasia.
For over 60 years the AACB has been committed to advancing the science and practice of clinical biochemistry and laboratory medicine to patient care, and the professional development of its Members and the wider pathology community through education, advocacy, and innovation.

The AACB provides education, training and other professional development opportunities for its members, which include, chemical pathologists, medical scientists and technicians working in pathology laboratories in the Australasian region, and for the wider laboratory medicine community.

About the role

The AACB is seeking expressions of interest for the role of Chief Executive Officer (CEO).
This is a unique opportunity to be a part of a highly respected organisation at the forefront of clinical biochemistry and laboratory medicine.
As CEO, you will drive strategic initiatives that promote and facilitate the interests of the AACB, and ensure that the AACB continues to set the standard for professional excellence in clinical biochemistry and laboratory medicine.

Key activities include:

  • Strategic Leadership: Develop and execute the AACB strategic plan, aligning it with the evolving needs of AACB and the clinical biochemistry and laboratory medicine community.
  • Operational Management: Oversee the day-to-day operations of the AACB, ensuring efficient and effective management of resources, and financial oversight.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including Members, government agencies, industry partners, and educational institutions.
  • Innovation & Growth: Identify opportunities for innovation, growth, and partnerships that will enhance the role and importance of the AACB.

About the applicant

To be successful in this role, the applicant will be a highly self-motivated person with excellent leadership and interpersonal skills.

The applicant will also have:

  • Proven experience in a senior leadership role, preferably within the healthcare, scientific, or professional association sectors.
  • An understanding of clinical biochemistry and laboratory medicine, or experience in an industry with close ties to laboratory medicine.
  • Attention to detail with high level (written and oral) communication skills.
  • Proficiency in commercial software applications, for example, Microsoft Office applications.
  • A commitment to ongoing professional development.
  • A commitment to the principles and practice of EEO, Conduct and Workplace Health and Safety.
  • A commitment to undertake a CEO or Director management training course within the first 6-months following commencement of employment.
