Title: Describing a novel DNA re-arrangement and discovery of an aberrant gene-intergenic fusion causing a motor neuropathy

Professor Marina Kennerson is Director of the Northcott Neuroscience Laboratory, ANZAC Research Institute with over 25 years of experience mapping genes for hereditary neuropathies (HN). Her leadership of the Translational Gene Discovery and Functional Genomics Program is recognized internationally having identified seven causative HN genes and two complex structural variation (SV) mutations which are now routinely screened in a diagnostic setting. The program incorporates state of the art genomics technologies for gene discovery as well as iPSC derived motor neuron and C. elegans pre-clinical models to develop treatment therapies. Marina is Chair of the Asian Oceanic Inherited Neuropathy Consortium (AOINC), a Board Member of the International Charcot-Marie-Tooth and Related Neuropathies Consortium (CMTR), serves on the CMT Research Foundation Scientific Advisory Board (USA) and is Deputy Director (Research) of the Sydney Local Health District Institute of Precision Medicine & Bioinformatics.
